Bakugan: Aquos

One more and I will finally be done with the Bakugan attribute symbols. Whew. I made this one awhile ago but have been sick so no bento posting.


This bento contains the Aquos symbol on cheese *drawn on with food markers* on top of a soy turkey sandwich. Along for the ride are carrots, grapes, an apple bunny, and a container of dressing.

This is Kidlet's new Bakugan lunchbox. He lost a tooth and the Tooth Fairy happens to be very bargain savvy and scored this special prize for.....$1.50. Yeah. That Tooth Fairy is pretty amazing. Of course in addition to giving up a baby tooth, he also had to solve a scavenger hunt to find this present. I would have taken a picture of the hunt but he woke up early and had it solved and torn down before I was up.



And this was when he got tired of me taking pictured and thought that if he pretended to be asleep sitting up I would stop. Hah. He should know by now that nothing will stop my picture taking. I think he looks rather sweet when he's sleeping so it worked for me!

FNCCC: Garlic Knots

Okay so this time I decided to give the Food Network Chefs Cooking Challenge a go! This is hosted by http://iblamemom.blogspot.com/ so go over to check out some other great recipes! This week's chef is Alexandra Guarnaschelli. I admit that before this I had no idea who she was, she is not on any of the shows I watch lol. But I perused her list of recipes on foodtv.com and decided to give it a go.

I tried her recipe for Garlic Knots:



Kidlet got a Garlic Knot, soy ham and cheese chunks on skewers, checkered apple, orange, grapes, and carrots. He said the Knot was delicious and asked for another one for his snack!

Garlic Knots
Recipe by Alex Guarnaschelli

Ingredients


  • Leftover pizza dough
  • 1 whole garlic clove, grated
  • Olive oil
  • Sea salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place about 1/2 cup of olive oil into a bowl. Grate the garlic right over the oil.
Break off pieces of leftover pizza dough and roll into little logs. Next, fold into a knot. Place the knots into the olive oil mixture and place onto the baking sheet. Season with salt, to taste, and place in the oven. Bake until the garlic knots are golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.

So, I realize how ridiculously easy this was. I did add a little grated cheese to the top as well, they were delicious! I did not make her pizza dough however as I already had some in my fridge so I used that up. Overall it was fun and delicious!

Bakugan: Subterra and Haos

I got distracted by shiny objects yesterday and forgot to post about lunch. Horrifying, I know. So today you get two! I am, much to my relief, nearly done with all of the Bakugan Attributes. Woo.


This one is Subterra and is on top of a soy ham sandwich with checkered apple, carrots, and grapes.


This is Haos and is also on a soy ham sandwich with checkered apple, carrots, and grapes. And it wasn't until looking at the lunches just now that I realized they are the same exact things with different cheese lol. Woops. Guess I need to do some produce shopping to shake things up a bit!

Two more BABV characters

Two more in what is seeming to become a series of Buildabearville Bento lol. This one is Kidlet's bento and it has my character, Noodles!



Noodles is food color marker on cheese on top of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Along for the ride are pretzels, checkered apple, carrots, grapes, orange slices, and a container of dressing.

And this one went in to work with my mom today! That's right we even have Grandma playing BABV with us. Her name is M.Banana! She sits on top of a tuna sandwich with waffle chip cracker things, grapes, and apples!

Leftover Pasta

Bento is a great way to utilize leftovers! After dinner last night I just scooped the leftover pasta in to Kidlet's bento for the morning!

This lunch contains shells and tomato sauce with a cheese star, cucumber, carrot, funky banana slice, grapes, and homemade breadstick cut in half.

Funky Banana Wedge: Tutorial

So I enlisted the help of Kidlet for another Tutorial before school this morning. He was very eager to help out! You will need 1/4 of a banana with it's skin still on, a knife, and some lemon juice to prevent browning.

First make a slit down the center of your banana and let it go about halfway down.

Next make a horizontal cut from the top of the banana to where the center slit ends.

It should look like this!

Flip the banana over and do the exact same thing on the other side. Same direction and everything. Then rub a little lemon juice on the exposed banana to keep it from browning.

You will end up with a funky pointy banana piece, just perfect for your bento lunch!

Or for practicing your kissing technique? Seriously I have no idea what he was thinking here. Silly Kidlet.

Bakugan: Ventus

So, I still get that glazed eye look when the Kidlet starts talking about Bakugan. He talks about it a lot, his friends talk about it, and the entire thing gives me a headache. But they love it so it goes in bento.


Now I believe Kidlet told me this is the Ventus symbol. One of the types of Bakugan there are. If I am wrong I am sure to have a lecture when he gets home from school lol. So Ventus is cheese drawn on with food color markers on top of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Sides are checkered apple, carrots, dressing, oranges, and cherries.
