Donald Duck

Thanks to everyone for giving me their opinions on Twitter. I am still undecided about whether or not it is the source of all evil :P Today Kidlet gets Donald! It snowed on me while I was taking this picture which is why there are white specks

Donald is food coloring markers on cheese and sits on a peanut butter sandwich. On the side are grapes, carrots, green beans, and a striped apple.

Monday you will get Minnie, as per Kidlet's request. I was going to do her today but thought it might be too girly. I was wrong!

M-O-U-S-E! :D Kidlet's class is learning about Biographies! They had to choose someone's biography to read and do a project on and Kidlet chose Walt Disney. So of course I had to do a Mickey bento. Poor Mickey got smudged when I tried to cut him out this morning.

Mickey is cheese and food coloring and sits on top of a peanut butter sandwich round. On the side are carrots, grapes, and a mickey head apple.

I made the apple by drawing a small mickey head on paper, cutting it out, placing it on the apple, and cutting around. Then I removed the skin and trimmed around the edge

Pikachu sandwich

I don't often use tools other than a knife and food coloring but I thought I would break out my Pokemon sandwich cutters since I haven't used them in a while. This made Kidlet very happy!

Lunch today is two peanut butter Pikachu sandwiches, carrots, grapes, checkered apple, star fruit, kiwi, and cherries.

Exciting things coming!

Hey guys! We've had a busy week of being snowed in, hence the lack of bento lunches.

Stay tuned for a very exciting thing that is about to happen on this very blog, a giveaway! That's right! Keep your eyes peeled to see how you can win some of your very own Rachael Ray Cookware . I am very excited about this, being a huge fan of Rachael Ray myself! Her organization Yum-O promotes healthy kids lunches which I am of course in full support of!

Today Kidlet had a bean and cheese roll-ups, grapes, green beans, tiny apple, triscuits, and a container of sour cream. Simple but tasty

Happy Belated Valentines Day!

Phew, February is shaping up to be a very busy month! Kidlet only had one day of school last week because of snow days but they managed to make it in for the holiday party! I am glad not only because it's good for the kids to be in school, but because I spent so much time on these valentines!! Here are the heart cookies that went inside the valentines:

I made these last year and Kidlet and his friends loved them so much that he asked me to do them again. I was up until 3am the night before the party. I think I forgot how much work they really are!

Here is an example of the valentine. It is a heart shaped box with a cookie inside and the valentine card attached. I used the template from Martha Stewart here They were used by Martha as a candy box but worked perfectly for a small sugar cookie.

All of the boys got Bakugan valentine cards attached and the girls got Build-A-Bear! As you can see there are a lot more girls than boys in Kidlet's class!

Year of the Tiger

Since Chinese New Year is on Sunday here is my little Tiger bento! Kidlet didn't have school today but he went to spend the day with his gramma at her work and she requested he bring a lunch.

Today Kidlet has a tiger made of cheese and food colors on top of peanut butter sandwich. On the side are green beans, strawberries, clemetine segments, grapes, and another heart apple. I must confess I didn't like him eating the heart apple because I liked it to much. I wasn't sure how they would turn out and now I want to keep making them!

Be Mine!

The Kidlet is finally back in school today!!!! Wooo! Snow days are fun for a little bit but it was time to get back to business! I finally have a bento I can enter for the B.O.M.B challenge! I had a lot of trouble trying to get some light this morning!

Kidlet has a teddy bear with hearts on top of a peanut butter sandwich. On the side are strawberries, green grapes, purple grapes, and an apple heart. The middle of the apple heart was cut out using a small cookie cutter and then I just trimmed around it.

Winter Olympics 2010

Well, this week is full of so many exciting things that it is easy to come up with bento ideas! I am hoping the weather does not mean snow days this week!

In looking for ideas for a Winter Olympics bento I discovered the mascots. They are very silly looking and I knew they had to go in the bento!

Olympic mascots Miga, Quatchi, and Sumi are made of cheese and food colors and sit on top of a peanut butter sandwich. a strip of cucumber separates the sandwich from checkered apple, carrots, grapes, and a strawberry

Starfish Loves You!!!!

This one may need a little explaining :D There are some videos on YouTube called Charlie the Unicorn. Charlie is a sad unicorn that keeps being tricked! In the 3rd video they are underwater and a goat/seal is singing to Charlie about how the sea creatures love him. Apparently the Starfish REALLY loves him because it keeps interrupting with it's extreme love. It's funny :)

Kidlet has a starfish made from cheese and food coloring on top of peanut butter and honey. On the side are checkered apple, clemetines, grapes, and cucumber.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Looks like the silly Groundhog has seen it's shadow! Of course we woke up to fresh snow so his prediction of 6 more weeks of winter seems accurate.

Kidlet gets a cheese groundhog on top of a peanut butter and honey sandwich. On the side are checkered apple, grapes, and pineapple skewer.

I once again used food coloring and a paint brush instead of the markers. I really like the smoothness of this method. I need a tiny paintbrush tho because these lines are a little misshapen.
