Hello Grade 5!

I can't believe that my little boy got on the bus this morning for his first day of 5th grade. I know I wonder this every year....but seriously.....how did that happen!?!

Kidlet's first day lunch is a soy ham sandwich with cheese paper, carrots, and checkered apple.

Despite a rough day before, Kidlet loves 5th grade so far! He has a great teacher and wonderful friends! His shirt says Voldemort can't stop the ROCK! It's from the Harry and the Potters concert we went to over the summer!

And check out his awesome backpack! Harry Potter all the way!

  1. That doc sounds off his rocker. Kidlet looks perfectly healthy and well-proportioned to me; in fact more so than many others I've seen! It must be his nutritious bento :)
    Welcome to 5th grade Kidlet!

  2. I agree - the doctor is CRAZY! We had the same thing starting at the same age! I think some kids get a little chunky at that age as they are about to sprout up! It looks like he takes very healthy lunches!

  3. Shame on that doctor! Is kidlet tall for his age? If he's high on the percentile for height, then the doctor should account for that when looking at the weight ... but, unfortunately some docs just don't get it. Yeah, my kid is technically overweight for his age, but he's 99% for his height ... if he was at the recommended weight for his AGE, not HEIGHT, then he'd be a bean pole. Just sayin' ... take it all with a grain of salt. And hopefully it won't phase kidlet. Sheesh ... wonder why girls have body image issues?

  4. Agree with Sheri! Kidlet looks fine for me. How 'cruel' the doctor was by saying something like that. Grade 5 now heh? Big boy now. Wish him all the best in Grade 5! (^.^)

  5. OMG WTF With that doctor?! Pardon my acronym language. What Sheri said! That's one happy healthy looking kid.

GAH! I could go on a tangent, but I wont. Grrr.

  6. He should have read that in the chart before he even went in the room. Poor Kidlet, I hope he doesn't take it hard... but with a backpack like that, I think he'll be just fine! Pretty soon that A+ bento will translate to A+ papers!

  7. I can't believe a doctor would say something like that! Especially at the first visit and with no prior relationship with you guys. Besides he looks great! He doesn't look at all chubby even. He's perfect. But even if he were chubby, boys always chub up a little right before a growth spurt around 5th or 6th grade. So he would be right on target. I would go see someone else, too. Hope the school year is great! From a new blog reader, thanks for the fun lunch ideas!
