Glee: Sue Sylvester Lunch

A new season of Glee means lots of hilarious moments to capture in lunch form. Kidlet and I always get a kick out of Sue but most of her humor is not lunch appropriate. However, her Le Car is perfect! We like to tell each other that we're going to run the other over with our Le Car haha :D

Kidlet has two peanut butter and jelly Le Cars on sourdough bread. In the main container there are also pretzels and pistachios. On the side are apples, pineapple, and carrots with dip.

Doctor Who: Fish Fingers and Custard

Kidlet's birthday is on Thursday this week so we had his party over the weekend. 17 rowdy Middle Schoolers in a small apartment. What was I thinking?!?! They had a blast and my ear drums are slowly recovering. The theme of the party was Doctor Who so lunch today is leftovers from the party.

Kidlet has a thermos of bad bad beans. In our Lunchbots Uno he has ersatz Fish Fingers (Boca chik'n patty cut in to strips), custard with a natural fruit leather bow-tie, happy apple, and carrots. The adorable titanium spork is from ThinkGeek

Kidlet's birthday cake with a flying TARDIS! The inside was chocolate cake with oreo filling which he requests every year.

Half of the table of foods! There are fruit roll bow ties, adipose marshmallows, apple slices, bananas, satsumas, bad bad beans, and custard.

The other side of the table has chips and faux fish fingers. I knew his friends wouldn't eat fish fingers so we had chicken fingers instead :)

ThrifTee Gear Review and Giveaway!

I have been blogging about bento lunches now for over 5 years! Amazing! As Kidlet gets older I always brace myself for the day that he doesn't want me to pack his lunches anymore but I have been thrilled that it hasn't happened yet!! A lot of my bento buddies find that upper Elementary and Middle School is the time when interest in cutesy goes away. While I have a lot more rules from Kidlet about what's school okay and what isn't he still lets me use a lot of cute stuff. Next year we step in to the category of teen and that makes it even more challenging! Making acceptable school lunches for teens can be challenging!

I was really thrilled to recently find out about ThrifTee Gear which is an amazing company that makes amazingly cool lunch bags out of t-shirts!! What a genius idea! Kidlet and his friends LOVE cute nerdy shirts and I love to buy them but they grow so fast it's sad when they no longer fit. Why not make a beloved shirt in to a lunch bag. Style and waste-free lunches in one little package!?! Fantastic!

These are great lunch bags for older kids or for those little ones who are advanced in their epicness! You can choose from already made bags at $14.95 which includes shipping to anywhere in the US or send in your own tee to be made in to a bag for $19.95 which includes two-way shipping!

Kidlet recently outgrew a lot of his favorite shirts so it was a tough decision for the lunch bag but he ultimately decided to go with his beloved Hedgehog tee! I am really glad he chose this one because it is so adorable! He loves his new lunch bag! It's really sturdy and has a great lining that makes wiping out spills a snap!

And now for the best part, for you anyway ;) ThrifTee Gear is giving one of you lovely readers a custom bag of your own! You'll get to raid your closet for your best lunch bag material and then you too can be one of the cool kids!

Disclaimer: ThrifTee Gear made my kid's shirt in to an amazing lunch bag in order to facilitate my review. All opinions expressed are my own and no other compensation was provided. Woop.

Granola Breakfast Bento

Kidlet and I went on a road trip last week to visit my Grandparents in Boston again. It was a quick whirlwind of a trip but lots of fun and good times with family! Of course any good roadtrip involves lots of delicious food including this breakfast bento I made for Kidlet!

Santé Bakery sent us some granola to try out and this was the perfect time to give it a whirl. It was delicious! It was crunchy and not too sweet and had lots of nuts and seeds which we both love.

Kidlet had NutSeed Granola with apple letters, Chobani HoneyNana yogurt, satsuma, and a checkered apple.

Santé Bakery products are all-natural and organic. The NutSeed Granola we tried out was even vegan! They offer several granolas as well as Piroshki, Rugelash, Scones, Cookies, Vatrushka, and Le Magique Truffle! Everything looks delicious and I can't wait to try the other items they have.

The NutSeed Granola was so tasty that we devoured our bag in no time! The only thing I didn't care for was the cashews. They were quite a bit bigger than everything else in the granola and I am just personally not a fan of raw cashews. Kidlet loved them and told me I was crazy so that's just a personal taste! Otherwise I highly recommend it! So tasty!

Larger Side Compartment: Mini Dipper full of ketchup and mustard

Smaller Side Compartment: Carrots and ranch dip

Happy Sandwich Man

This was a spur of the moment lunch. Kidlet wanted a veggie sub and I was happy to oblige. As I was putting it together I decided it needed a face....then arms....and of course a tiny hat! :)

Happy sandwich man is a veggie sub with lettuce, tomato, cheese, carrots, and cucumber. His face and arms are cheese. On the side there is a mini dipper of Italian dressing, mandarin oranges, grapes, and strawberries.

Chobani Champions Yogurt Review and Giveaway!

Kidlet eats a lot of Greek yogurt. Being a vegetarian I like the extra punch of protein it gives him. And it's delicious :) Kidlet wasn't a big Chobani fan so I was skeptical of the Champions yogurt but we gave it a try and I am so glad we did. Kidlet LOVES the Champions yogurts! His favorites were the Chocolate Chunk and the Very Berry. I liked the Orange Vanilla and the Honey Nana! Champions are a thinner Greek yogurt which kids seem to really like. You can check out lunches I've made using Chobani Champions HERE.

Kidlet even made a game up with his Chobani Champions! He tried stacking them in lots of different ways! This should definitely be a new sport ;) He didn't like it when I said it was time to put them away before they went bad :P

Want to try some delicious Champions of your own! The awesome people at Chobani are letting me give 2 readers (that's YOU!) each 6 packs of delicious yogurt! What could be better?
