A Hitchhiker's Farewell

This was a difficult lunch to pack, the very last packed lunch of elementary school! I was at a complete loss for inspiration for this one. Then it hit me! If you're new to reading this blog, my family is chock full of nerds. But never fear if you aren't one too, I will explain the nerdiness :) This is a line from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's the only thing I could think of that could sum up everything I feel about the end of school without delving in to the realms of the mushy.

Kidlet has a Biscoff sandwich with fruit leather letter spelling "So Long & Thanks For All The Fish" On the side are blackberries, checkered apple, carrots with dip, and goldfish crackers.

Thor Bento

Continuing on with some Avengers themed lunches, today we have Thor! Kidlet only has 2 more days of school left and one day of bento. The last day of school they are getting Subway (donated by a parent who owns one, WOO!) So I have one day left to make a smashing end of school lunch. Yikes!

All packed up in an EasyLunchBox Kidlet has a soy ham sandwich with Thor logo and hammer made of cheese and food colors. On the side is Pirate's Booty, bell peppers, carrots, dip, blackberries, and strawberries.

Anchorman: I Love Lamp Bento

So, if you've never seen Anchorman you won't get this. That's okay, we still love you anyway. But mostly we love lamp. We're pretty excited for 2013's Anchorman 2, hoping it won't disappoint! I Love Lamp is one of Kidlet's favorite things to quote from the movie along with "Where did you get that grenade" and telling everyone to "Stay Classy".

Kidlet has a soy "bologna" sandwich with cheese I <3 Lamp. On the side are carrots, blackberries, and strawberries.

The Annual Disposable Field Trip Lunch

Happy news - the lunchbox that went missing yesterday came home today. No idea where it was but I am glad it's back.

This year Kidlet's gifted class (called LEAP) has been working on a project called Penny Harvest where they raise money for charity in the school. The kids created assemblies, contacted and interviewed potential charities etc. Today they got to go on a field trip to a sort of convention where lots of other schools doing Penny Harvest shared their experiences. Of course this also meant a disposable lunch *ick*

Kidlet got a soy "bologna" sandwich with Penny Harvest spelled in cheese packed in a grape tomato container. On the side are strawberries and blackberries. Under the sandwich are pretzels. On the side he has a frozen yogurt tube which will keep the lunch cold and a V8 V-Fusion.

Captain America Bento

This lunch is a sad lunch because Kidlet never got to eat it. When he went to get his lunch bag from their bin it was missing. Now, I am really hoping he just overlooked it or it was misplaced rather than the most likely answer that this is a continuation of some bullying we've been dealing with this year. If those punk kids took his lunch box I will be extremely unhappy. Kidlet was so excited when he saw his lunch this morning too. RIP Captain America Bento.

The sad missing ELB has a soy "bologna" sandwich with Captain America shield cheese. On the side are cherries, carrots, and Pirate's Booty.

5th Grade Family Picnic Bento

Kidlet has gone to the same school since Kindergarten. That makes 6 years! One tradition we have always enjoyed is the end of the year family picnic. Now this is our last one! *sniffle* It's so weird to think that things we have been participating in for 6 years will soon no longer be! Now I have to spend the last few weeks of school trying very hard not to cry lol.

Today Kidlet and I will be sharing this fun picnic lunch.

Top L-R: Cherries, blackberries, grapes. Pretzels and peanut butter and jelly pocket sandwiches
Bottom L-R: Pretzels and peanut butter and jelly pocket sandwiches. Broccoli slaw

IronMan Bento

We are currently madly in love with Iron Man. Tony Stark is the perfect combination of Science, Snark, and Hotness :P Okay that last part is only a bonus for me, which is horrifying to Kidlet.

All packed up in our Lunchbots Uno,  Kidlet has an Iron Man mask made from cheese and food colors on top of a Boca Chik'n patty sandwich. On the side he has checkered apple, cherries, blackberries, pretzels, carrots and dip.

And meet Shawarma, Kidlet's Build-a-Bear friend. He made Shawarma over the weekend and he is looking good in his tiny little Iron Man tee. If you haven't seen The Avengers movie, Shawarma is a little inside joke ;)

Doctor Who lunch: Not Ginger

I got this idea thinking about Doctor Who and his many incarnations. Every time he regenerates he checks himself over and is constantly disappointed that he isn't ginger.

Kidlet has a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with Not Ginger spelled in fruit leather. On the side he has checkered apple, grapes, carrots with dip, and pirate's booty.

Avengers Logo Bento

I never really thought I would be interested in Superheroes. I have been proven wrong. Kidlet and I went to see The Avengers over the weekend. OMG. So good. Now we're working our way through the previous movies like IronMan and Hulk. SO GOOD.  I was going to make this bento last week but Star Wars day got in the way. This is the first of probably many superhero lunches.

Bento Supply Organization

Over the years my bento supplies have not only grown but have also moved all over the kitchen. It's hard to find just the right place but now I think I have it down! You can find some more organizing ideas on the Bento Booty & Lunchbox Loot Pinterest board and on Bentobloggy Picks Aplenty Part 1 and Picks Aplenty Part 2

This is the top shelf of bento supplies and holds our boxes and a bin full of bags.

The second shelf holds a hardware organizer that houses my picks, baran, silicon cups etc. Next to that are bins of sandwich cutters and rice molds. On the very bottom are all of my cookie cutters organized in to groups.  Behind the organizer there are a couple more bins of cookie cutters that are used less frequently.

The organizer has a ton of tiny drawers that are perfect for picks and baran. I love how they open easily for quick bento needs! The larger drawers on the bottom are great for sauce cups, silicon cupcake cups etc.

So that's how I organize all of my bento stuffs. How about you? How do you reign in your supplies?
