Showing our #DisneySide

Show Your Disney Side
I was given the opportunity to host a #DisneySide party recently and oh boy was it fun! The best part is that my mom's birthday landed right in the middle of the time frame requested. I was so excited to be able to give her such a fun 59th! You can check out more fun at DisneySideCelebrations.com

We chose to have a taco salad bar with Mickey Mouse shaped tortilla chips. Recipe can be found on my previous post Mickey Mouse Tortilla Chips. And of course I had to make a bento with the leftovers!

Main Compartment: Lettuce, cheese, taco meat, salsa, sour cream, avocado
Large Side Compartment: Mickey shaped tortilla chips
Small Side Compartment: Oranges

We started out with our taco salads and they were delicious! The perfect way to begin the party!

Kidlet loved his salad but was less than amused by my camera. The tough life of a Blogger's kid hehe :)

For dessert we had the tastiest cupcakes. I used an old favorite recipe and made Pineapple Angel Food cupcakes. All you do is dump a large can of crushed pineapple in to a 1 step angel food cake mix and voila! I iced them with cool whip. Light and delicious!

We had a great time eating and playing game like bingo that came in our kit. The party was a huge hit! We had a couple of extra goodie bags we decided to have a giveaway so you could share in our Disney fun!

The Grand Prize includes: Mickey cup, Minnie cup, two bracelets, Minnie hand sanitizer, Mickey magic towel, Mickey stickers, Donald tattoos, Minnie hair clips, HP Photo Card Pack, Craisins, Mickey Play Pack, Mickey water bottle and an iPhone 5 cover!

Second Prize includes: Mickey cup, Minnie cup, two bracelets, Minnie hand sanitizer, Mickey magic towel, Mickey stickers, Donald tattoos, Minnie hair clips, HP Photo Card Pack, Craisins, Mickey water bottle and a Mickey Play Pack

Easy Bear Lunch

*This post contains affiliate links

Kidlet is in final dress rehearsals for the school play and they have been working those kids hard! He comes home so exhausted. They are doing a play called "The High Schooler's Guide To The Galaxy" which is a spoof of the Hitchhiker's Guide.  But happily the play is at the end of the week and then all the hard work is over. I can't wait to see what they have done.

With all of that going on I made a simple lunch for him today full of his favorites! And a couple mini cookies as a surprise.

Main Compartment: Nutella bear sandwich and two mini molasses cookies
Large Side Compartment: Strawberries
Small Side Compartment: Carrots

The Game is Afoot!!!

Our local children's science museum is lucky enough to be hosting the International Exhibit Sherlock Holmes! Kidlet and I couldn't wait to go and we were not disappointed! It was an interactive quest ending with costumes and props from the various Sherlock Holmes. SO COOL!

In our Planetbox Rover Kidlet has a Nutella sandwich on challah bread with natural fruit leather letters. On the side are oranges, lettuce, tortilla chips, and cheese (Kidlet likes chips and cheese on salad rather than dressing)

Mickey Mouse Tortilla Chips

We are so excited to be hosting an @Home Celebrations #DisneySide party tonight! We are celebrating my mom's 59th birthday Disney style. We're going to be having taco salad for dinner so I used some cute Mickey Mouse cookie cutters I received to make delicious baked tortilla chips.

These chips are super easy to make and add an adorable touch to your party or everyday meal!

Here is what you will need to make the chips: Tortillas, salt, olive oil, and cookie cutters.

Use your cookie cutter to cut shapes out of the tortillas.

Brush the tortilla shapes lightly with olive oil and then sprinkle with salt

Bake at 400 degrees for 6 minutes (or more if your shapes are larger)
